    Les Fauves de basketball centrafricain en stage bloqué en France viennent d’essuyé un échec non démérité face aux Belges. Ils se sont inclinés samedi 30 juillet sur le score de 82 à 85 face à leur adversaire de l’équipe nationale de Bruxelles. La rencontre s’est inscrite dans le cadre de la poursuite de leur préparation pour les compétition de l’Afro-Basket 2011 prévu cette année à Madagascar du 17 au 28 Aout prochain.

Cette 1ère défaite fait suite à la victoire de ces fauves face au ivoiriens sur un score de 80 à 75.

Au premier quart temps, les centrafricains ont mené les Belges sur le score de 21 à 20. Les deux équipes se sont rencontrées déjà lors de la préparation de l’Afro-basket 2009. Une rencontre qui a vu la victoire de la Belgique face à la RCA.

Les Fauves de Bas Oubangui vont jouer leur prochain match contre le Mali, le 8 Août 2011 à Paris.

Les centrafricains rencontreront lors des matchs de poule D de l’Afro-Basket, le Rwanda, le Togo et la Tunisie respectivement les 18, 19 et 20 Août prochain.

Pour réconforter leur position, les fauves évoluent désormais avec James Mays l’Américano-centrafricain. Il a été accueilli par le staff technique du pays et représenté par Gérard Ko et Régis Koundjia à l’aéroport Charles De Gaulle le dimanche 24 juillet à 7h55min.

James Mays a rejoint la présélection de la Centrafrique à Lille au nord de la France pour les préparatifs de l’Afrobasket 2011.

 

James Mays du haut de ses 2.10m et ses stat mirobolants a toute de suite séduit la communauté centrafricaine dès la première sortie de la présélection face à Côte d’ivoire.

 

Pour sa première balle sous le maillot centrafricain, il a été servi par Régis Koundjia pour marquer son territoire et annoncé la couleur face à la défense ivoirienne.

Mis en confiance sur ce premier « dunk », il a ensuite déroulé une partie de son talent en se montrant à l

Overview: Power forward who displayed a wide range of skills as a junior in 2006-07...will be an All-ACC candidate as a senior in 2007-08...declared for the NBA Draft after his junior season, but withdrew in June after competing in the league's pre-draft camp in Orlando...played in 28 consecutive Tiger victories at one point...team was 11-0 with him in the lineup in 2005-06 and then won their first 17 games in 2006-07...has been the focal point of Clemson's pressure defense the past two seasons...as the point man on the press he disrupts the inbounder and has been a big reason the Tigers have ranked in the top 15 in steals per game nationally the last three seasons...holds the school's single-season records for steals and assists by a frontcourt player...showed an improved ability to find open looks for teammates as a junior...one of the quickest post players in the conference and maybe in the entire country...has the ability to create crowd enthusiasm by turning in exciting plays...ranks in the top 10 in school history in steals per game and blocked shots per game...also ranks among the top 16 in school history in career steals (116) and is also just outside the top 10 in school history with 74 blocked shots...enters his senior season with 678 career points and 426 rebounds...a veteran of 79 games with 53 career starts...has helped Clemson to sound wins over South Carolina the last two years with 40 total points on 15-21 field goal shooting...from the same area of North Carolina as former teammate Shawan Robinson...comes from a basketball family...his father, Hardrick Mays, played college basketball at Shaw University in Raleigh and is now the women's coach at Garner High School, James' alma mater...came to Clemson from the same school that produced former North Carolina star Donald Williams (1992-95) and former Xavier star David West (1999-03).
